- ANUK is a membership organisation
- It currently has 152 constituent members which consist of local authorities, voluntary organisations, landlord organisation, government bodies and educational institutions
- The Network is run by an Executive and it also has a wider Forum meeting for those interested in its work
- Executive members consist of regional representatives with some Executive members having over-arching national responsibilities
- The ANUK website has copies of most current accreditation schemes in use (updated annually) and has a core model scheme that can be amended and to reflect local diversity
- In 20101 18,149 people visited the website and viewed 58,660 pages
- Members of ANUK receive regular newsletters which are issued both in paper-based and electronic format.
- ANUK has developed four core values, Declaration, Verification, Continuing Improvement and Complaints, which all bona fide accreditation schemes should meet. ANUK has expressed concern to both the previous Labour Government and the coalition Government that weak schemes not based on these core values, should not be regarded as accreditation schemes
- The recently revised ANUK/LGA Landlord Handbook is the accepted core publication for Landlords renting and contains a wealth of advice and information is an easily accessible format. The Handbook can be downloaded for free or an attractive book is available at £3.50 a copy. Over 5,000 copies were sold last year
- ANUK runs two Government Approved Codes, in partnership with Unipol Student Homes, for larger student developments. In 2010 there were 104 members of these Codes and the scheme covered 158,287 bed spaces covering 1,239 developments in 60 towns and cities throughout England, Wales and Scotland
The Future
In 2011 ANUK is working on:
- revising its model accreditation scheme
- launching a new model scheme for skills based accreditation
- developing a training and audit system for evaluating schemes in line with its four core values
- launching an on-line training facility for the National Codes for larger student developments
- and getting more involved in developing, discussing and valuing accreditation.
