A new Landlord Handbook was launched at the Accreditation Network's (ANUK) Conference held at Greenwich University on Tuesday 24th November 2009.
This ANUK/LACORS Handbook replaces and updates the ANUK/IDeA Model Landlord Development Manual that was issued in 2007 (that has been withdrawn following this revision) and has proved popular as the basis for much professional development and training within the landlord community.
The manual contains the basic level of knowledge required for a landlord. It is also a model course intended for use by Accreditation Scheme Operators and Landlord Associations who wish to provide training for their landlords. It is intended to benefit a range of landlords and letting agents. It is not designed to be specific to any locality or for landlords of particular types of properties. It allows for the diversity that exists in the Private Rented Sector (PRS). It relates equally to property standards, management and landlord and tenancy matters. The emphasis can be adjusted according to the target audience.
The course may be downloaded and reproduced by Landlords, Local Authorities, Landlord Associations, Accreditation Scheme Operators and can be branded or marketed in any way that member organisations require providing that the acknowledgements section (inside the front cover) is reproduced in total and the ANUK/LACORS logos are prominent.
The Handbook is endorsed by many organisations including:
- Accreditation Network UK
- LACORS
- Association of Tenancy Relations Officers
- Unipol
- National Federation of Residential Landlords
- Residential Landlords Association
- British Property Federation
ANUK believe that they have set a standard for Landlord Development in this manual and hope that further developments are encouraged such as training courses, tests for competence, further specialised and advanced training modules and distance learning.
Copies of the Handbook can be ordered from Unipol training
The Handbook can also be downloaded from here.
