This manual developed by ANUK and IDeA contains the basic level of knowledge required for a landlord. It is a model course intended for use by Accreditation Scheme Operators who wish to provide training for their landlords. It is intended to benefit a range of landlords and letting agents. It is not designed to be specific to any locality or for landlords of particular types of properties. It allows for the diversity that exists in the Private Rented Sector. It relates equally to property standards, management and landlord and tenancy matters. The emphasis can be adjusted according to the target audience.
It is intended as a Model Course that has been approved by all the major stakeholders in the PRS
The course may be downloaded and reproduced by all members of ANUK and reproduced with amendments, omissions or additions to suit their needs. It can be branded or marketed in any way that member organisations require providing that the acknowledgements section (inside the front cover) is reproduced in total.
This Landlord Development Manual is endorsed by the following organisations which where all represented on the Consultative Group.
Accreditation Network
National Federation of Residential Landlords
National Landlords Association
Residential Landlords Association
Department of Communities and Local Government
British Property Federation
It can be used in conjunction with a one day foundation course for landlords.
ANUK and IDeA believe that we have set a standard for Landlord Development in this manual and we hope that further developments are encouraged such as training courses, tests for competence, further specialised and advanced training modules and distance learning.
