The Accreditation Network UK (ANUK) has submitted its response to The Government response to the Rugg Review Consultation.

The consultation follows the review into the entire private rented sector carried out by Julie Rugg and David Rhodes and sees the Government consult on a number of proposals.

ANUK has called for all landlords to have access to accreditation schemes and for a minimum standard of accreditation to be established. ANUK believes that accreditation should not be overly prescriptive from Government to allow local needs to be met by each accreditation schemes. In its submission, ANUK also suggested that minimum standards for an accreditation scheme should be in line with its four core values of accreditation, namely;

1. Declaration

2. Verification

3. Continual improvement

4. Complaints

ANUK has also called for more training to be available, supported by Government, based on its IDeA/LACORS/ANUK landlord development manual as a mechanism for improving knowledge within the sector.
